Hi, I’m Ian Copland. I created this blog as a means to document all the projects I have worked on.
Last year I graduated from The University of Abertay Dundee with an Upper Second Class BSc(hons) in Computer Games Technology. My honours project investigated into the development and optimisation of a physics engine on a limited handheld device such as the iPhone. This involved using the iPhones Vector Floating Point Unit and ARM assembly to increase the spead of math functions.
After graduating I worked at Realtime Worlds as part of the Project: MyWorld Team. I worked offsite with researchers at the University of Dundee investigating into technologies that could be used to improve the MyWorld product. However 3 months into the job Realtime Worlds went bankrupt and I was made redundant.
I’ve now been working at Tag Games Ltd for over a year and enjoying it! I’ve worked on several projects ranging from small tools to a large project that I can’t yet talk about ;-) Two of the projects I’ve been working on have just reciently finished. One of them, a Doctor Who game on Android, you can read about here.
In addition to Programming I of course enjoy playing computer games. I especially enjoy the Final Fantasy series, World of Warcraft and Dragon Age. I also love playing guitar, listening to music, reading and of course havin’ a drink down the pub :-) Last year I moved in with my lovely girlfriend leyla who I love very much, and our cat Hadez who does my head in :P
